MS Wild Weather and First Day of Classes

So let me tell you, being from MO I am used to wild weather, but I don't think anything could top the weather in MS. New Year's Eve we had a tornado warning, fast forward just one weekend later and we had a snow storm. I didn't even think we would see snow down here in MS. I really enjoyed it, except the freezing rain and sleet.. I could do without all the ice.   Okay so quick rewind to Saturday, I made a very stupid decision and decided to make a run to Wal-Mart. BAD idea. Southerners take the threat of ice and snow seriously! I had to sit in a line just to get into the parking lot of the place. Once I walked in, it was just a crazy mess. Back home we usually see snow shovels at the front of the store when a storm is coming.. not here. There are no snow shovels here! Instead you will find bread, batteries, propane, and flash lights. This was just amusing to me to watch tons of people pile in several flash lights and propane in their carts. I know.. I know.. down here they don't have the means of handling really bad conditions like this, but to be from an area where we get a pretty significant amount of snowfall each year.. it was kind of funny to watch this.

Even though basically the whole town of Columbus was shut down, I still had school. That is the only downside to online classes I guess. I must say, I am very excited to be starting classes again! After having last semester off, I was sooo ready to get back into it! I even started writing my first paper today, yay! And I am sure there are many more papers to come. I can't complain though, being able to stay in my nice warm house, while attending classes.. that is pretty awesome.
